La Roqueta Island, Acapulco, Mexico

La Roqueta is a Mexican island located in the SW of the bay of Acapulco, Guerrero, very close to the beaches of Caleta and Caletilla of that city, which together with the main beach of the island make up one of the most popular places in the port as a sun and beach destination. The island has been administered and protected by the Secretary of the Navy since 1981. There is an advanced project (2019) to declare it a federally protected natural area with a total area of 425-70-69 hectares, of which 85% is represented by the adjacent marine area.

The predominant vegetation on La Roqueta Island corresponds to a sub deciduous tropical forest, a plant community where the loss of foliage is not as drastic as in the low deciduous forest, because although more than half of its dominant components shed their foliage in one season of the year, many of them are not completely defoliated or the loss of their leaves is for a short period, so it maintains some greenery throughout the year; Another distinctive feature is that many of its components reach heights ranging between 25 and 30 meters. The island also has an area with vegetation typical of low deciduous forest in a strip of approximately 20 meters around the lower part of the island. Vegetation cover is estimated at 43-60-90 hectares with a total of 162 species of terrestrial plants; there is also a record of 71 species of marine algae.

Majahua, Acapulco's hidden beach ideal to visit with your partner

he Majahua beach is one of the most popular and crowded beaches of Puerto Marques in Acapulco, Guerrero, southern Mexico. It is located south of the bay of Puerto Marques, in the tourist area known as Acapulco Diamante. The beach has an approximate length of 150 m, being the smallest beach in the bay.

Majahua has very gentle waves, similar to those of Caleta, Caletilla and Pichilingue, this in turn attracts crowded groups of tourists who enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the place, as the beach is ideal for the entry of young children and seniors. It has a large bar of seafood restaurants that offer visitors a variety of dishes for all tastes.

At the northern end of the beach, there is a pier built on a high rocky mass that divides the beach from Puerto Marqués. From there you can see a wide panorama of the peninsula of Punta Diamante that forms the mouth of the bay, which is mostly without hotel or commercial developments.

Dare to discover the world! 🤯

Visiting new destinations is one of the reasons to see the world. It is perhaps the most famous reason or the one with the most press. It is the first answer most people give to the question "Why do you travel?". While for us it is neither the only nor the most important reason, we have to admit that we love to see new places.

What are "places"? They are spaces, they are coordinates, they are geographical points but for us they are fundamentally the positions of our trajectory.

We love to live traveling because traveling is synonymous with moving and moving implies being in different places.

We admire and contemplate nature; we are surprised, we connect, we become aware. And the good thing about knowing all these places is that nature enchants us but it is not enough, it is not enough to know the places deeply.

Moving from one place to another and staying for a while, allows us to get closer to the culture of each place: what they eat, how they travel by public transportation, what is sold in the local markets, what is the architecture, what is the daily rhythm and what are the daily activities; what is the history and what is the present, what is the political and economic situation.

Most popular destinations in the world

The world is so big that when it comes to travel we need inspiration to decide on one destination or another. Nowadays we can reach practically any corner of the planet; we look at maps, read travel books, watch movies and images shared on social networks by other travelers, consult travel apps on our cell phones... It is so difficult to choose among all the options we have at our fingertips!

For this, there is nothing better than being advised by the experience of others who have traveled before us. As every year since 2002, TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice awards gather the most popular destinations in the world: the best, chosen by those who know best, the travelers themselves. The winning destinations are selected annually using an algorithm that takes into account the comments shared and the scores that appear on this website specialized in collecting opinions from different users.

Among the most popular destinations in the world are:

Barcelona: Beaches, paradisiacal islands, urban trips to the most vibrant cities and some mountain so there is never a lack of adventure.

Paris: The beautiful Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, accompanied by the luxurious Louvre Museum.

Rome: See the Colosseum and all the archaeological ruins, the Pantheon, cross the Sant'Angelo Bridge, Spanish Steps, marvel at the works of art in the Vatican Museums.

Dubai: It is amazing to find the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, projecting into the sky, or see up close the Burj Al Arab, the only hotel in the world with 7 stars.

London: History and character, iconic monuments such as Big Ben or the traditional cabs themselves are ingredients for a perfect getaway.

History of Acapulco

Those who wish to delve into the history of Acapulco can schedule a visit to Fort San Diego , one of the city's relevant historical monuments and one of the most important maritime fortresses in the entire Pacific Ocean.

The Cathedral of Our Lady of Solitude is located a few steps from the fort and combines different architectural styles, which were amalgamated during the long construction process. At first glance it resembles a Russian Orthodox church more than the Mexican temples. A careful look will reveal the subtle neocolonial and Byzantine details, especially in the dome and towers.

The regional touch is provided by the mosaics that adorn the interior. While on the Pinzona hill is the mural that Diego Rivera took 18 months to capture on one of the walls of Dolores Olmedo's house. The work, which shows the strength of Quetzalcóatl, the Aztec god represented as a feathered serpent, was made with mosaics and snails.
