Arashiyama Bamboo Forest

The Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is located about 7 kilometers west of central Kyoto , and is one of the most popular districts in Japan. This area is also known as Sagano Bamboo Forest or Bamboo Grove .

The entire Arashiyama district revolves around the Bamboo Grove, a spectacular landscape with thousands of bamboos. The visit to the bamboo forest consists of walking along the path that crosses it. This path is nicknamed the "Bamboo Alley" for the thousands of stems that rise up on either side of the path.

While walking among the impressive bamboos and admiring their beauty, along with their colors and lights that pass through their thick leaves, you can appreciate the subtle sound that two bamboo stems produce when colliding . This sound has been recognized as one of the " 100 sounds to preserve in Japan " by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan. So in addition to the view, we recommend that you come to the Bamboo Forest prepared to enjoy it with all your senses.
